How do I become a local nature tourist guide?The
opportunity to become a tourist guide is open to all Malaysian citizens
with a strong interest in tourism and nature as well as enthusiasm to
interact with tourists. They must also have good discipline and be very
knowledgeable about ecotourism and the country as a whole. Candidates
are required take the Level 2 Local Nature Tourist Guide Course which is
conducted by PERHILITAN (Peninsular Malaysia) and selected tourism
training institutions (Sabah and Sarawak) as well as pass the
examination conducted by the Ministry of Tourism.
What are the qualifications required?Candidates
interested in taking the Level 2 Local Nature Tourist Guide Course must
have at least a Sijil Rendah Pelajaran (SRP). Candidates with lower
academic qualifications but with vast experience in a jungle environment
and nature-based tourism may be considered by the Ministry of Tourism.
What is the Level 2 Local Nature Tourist Guide Course?Candidates
must take the Level 2 Local Nature Tourist Guide Course within a
minimum period of 2 weeks before they are allowed to sit for the local
