Purpose
Spa Therapist Training program was introduced to develop local expertise while giving new career opportunities to Malaysian youth. It also aims to regulate the spa industry and to reduce Malaysians dependency on foreign therapists which will no longer being supported starting 1st January 2017.

Duration of Training
- This programme consists of two parts:
- Theory - 3 months
- Practical training at spa premises - 9 months
- Upon successful completion of the programme, trainees will be a certified spa therapist and obtain Malaysian Skill Certificate (Level 3) from the Department of Skills and Development, Ministry of Human Resources.
- Trainees will also be given job placement for 1 year and 6 months to ensure they can practice their skills and able to contribute to the spa industry.

Working Condition at Spa Centres
- A spa therapist typically works 6 days a week and provides spa services to 4 to 6 customers per day depending on the time taken for a particular spa treatment.
- The working condition is very good as customers who visit the spa want a tranquil and clean environment to unwind mentally and physically from the stresses of everyday life.
- Spa therapists also have the opportunity to learn and gain valuable experience from other spa therapists who are knowledgeable and skilled in spa treatments from other countries such as India, China, Japan and Turkey.
